Some years ago, I decided to make some paintings on paper instead of canvas. Since then, some of my best work has been done with this medium. Although I’ve made many paintings using transparent paint on unprimed paper, y most recent paintings have been done on paper that has been stretched and primed like a piece of canvas. I use heavy 140 pound or 200 pound paper that has a strong feel to it. I enjoy drawing on the paper as well as painting. I use acrylic paint on these paintings. Acrylic is a versatile medium for both transparent opaque paint applications. Often I leave a white half-inch border around the work itself that can be matted over or displayed framed as part of the work.
